BIRDS OF PARADISE IN RAIN

To explore colour as phenomenon I developed a colour chart inspired by the
expression “birds of paradise in rain” out of Oscar Wilde’s novel “ The picture of Dorian Gray”.
The atmosphere is determined by bright und lightning colours and greyish, washed-out shades.
I converted these nuances into textiles by dyeing, printing and weaving. For the screen
printing technique I used raster graphics to create monochrome appearing fabrics.
As product-oriented exercise I covered an old umbrella with new cloth and created fabrics for
fashion applications. I want the user to feel as bird of paradise in rain himself.
